What we help with
Areas of focus
We work with adults facing a wide range of challenges. Whether you're processing something painful from the past or navigating something difficult right now, we'll meet you where you are.
Trauma & PTSD
Trauma can show up in a lot of ways — intrusive memories, hypervigilance, emotional numbness, difficulty trusting yourself or others, or a persistent sense that something is wrong even when things look fine on the outside. You don't have to have experienced a single dramatic event for trauma to be affecting your life.
We work with adults who are ready to process what happened and reclaim a sense of safety, stability, and self. Both Melissa and Neil are trained in Brainspotting, a powerful approach for accessing and processing trauma that can be difficult to reach through talk therapy alone.
Anxiety
Anxiety looks different for everyone. For some people it's constant worry or overthinking. For others it's physical tension, difficulty sleeping, or a nagging sense of dread that's hard to explain. Some people have been anxious for so long it just feels like their personality.
We help you understand what's actually driving the anxiety — not just manage the symptoms — and build real tools to work with it. That might mean slowing down the thought patterns, understanding the underlying beliefs, or processing experiences that are keeping your nervous system stuck.
Grief & Loss
Grief is not just about death. It can follow the end of a relationship, a career, a version of yourself, a future you expected to have. It can be complicated, delayed, or come in waves long after you thought you were through it.
We make space for loss in all its forms, without rushing the process or minimizing the pain. There's no timeline you're supposed to be on, and no right way to grieve. Our job is to be present with you in it and help you find your way through.
Life Transitions
Major transitions — career changes, relationship shifts, becoming a parent, losing a parent, moving, retirement, identity questions — can be disorienting even when they're positive. They often bring up deeper questions about who you are and what you actually want.
We help you navigate change with more clarity and confidence, process what you're leaving behind, and get more intentional about what comes next.
Substance Use Recovery
Substance use is rarely just about the substance. It's usually about pain, coping, connection, or trying to manage something that feels unmanageable. We approach this work with compassion and without judgment — and with a real understanding of what drives the patterns.
Neil brings direct experience from years working in detox, residential, outpatient, and program leadership settings. We support lasting change through honest conversation, accountability, and addressing what's underneath.
A core part of our work
Brainspotting
Brainspotting is a brain-based therapeutic approach developed by Dr. David Grand that works by identifying specific eye positions — called "brainspots" — that correlate with where trauma, emotional pain, and stuck patterns are stored in the brain and body. By holding attention on these spots while staying connected to the relevant experience, the brain is able to access and process material that can be difficult or impossible to reach through conversation alone.
It's particularly effective for trauma and PTSD, but also useful for anxiety, grief, performance issues, and emotional patterns that keep showing up despite your best efforts to change them. Many clients describe it as getting unstuck in ways that years of talk therapy hadn't been able to achieve.
Melissa is trained in Brainspotting Phase 1, Phase 2, and Expansion. Neil is a certified Brainspotting practitioner. Both integrate it thoughtfully — it's a tool, not a formula, and we'll use it when it fits.
